The Power and the Brains Behind Zeleon's Web Based Thin Client

What is the Zeleon?

Zeleon displays web-based content on a 12.1" color, LCD touch screen. This high output SVGA (800x600) LCD display is brighter than a standard notebook PC. Zeleon is powered by an embedded processor from National Semiconductor that is x86 compatible and is driven by an embedded real time operating system (RTOS) by QNX Software Systems. Zeleon also meets the Energy Star® guidelines for energy efficiency.

Brains by National Semiconductor

The Zeleon hardware unit, a thin client web terminal, is powered by the GeodeTM GX1 processor by National Semiconductor. The Geode processor is a highly integrated x86-based processor that was designed from the ground up to power Internet Appliances.

This proven architecture helps the Zeleon unit jump to the head of the field of web based thin clients. It cranks along at 300MHz and utilizes the Geode CS5530A Companion I/O chip. These chips work hand-in-hand to facilitate all Zeleon input and output functions, like 10/100BaseT Ethernet connectivity, USB port, serial ports, keyboard port, and CD quality stereo sound output.

Brawn by QNX

To ensure full-time, maintenance-free operation, the Zeleon uses the QNX® RTOS, an operating system designed for mission-critical, 7/24 applications. The QNX RTOS provides multimedia plug-ins and a high-speed GUI, making Zeleon ideal for video promotions that feature streaming video, animation, and CD-quality sound. QNX also offers an easy-to-customize "look and feel," allowing each Zeleon customer to deliver a unique user experience. Better yet, QNX offers built-in internationalization, so the Zeleon can work in virtually any language or country.
