Web Seminar: Web Services - the True Service Oriented Architecture for the Internet Era
The ability of an enterprise to have access to realtime information spanning
across multiple departments, applications, platforms and systems is one of the
most important driving factors behind the adoption of web services. It‘s
simplifying how companies extend management in the field for the like of remote
monitoring, it’s field upgrades, and device configuration.
Join QNX Software Systems on Tuesday, June 29, at 10:00 a.m. ET for a technical
web seminar that examines how to embed such functionality into resource-
constrained devices, using frameworks independent of any particular programming
language. QNX Software Systems, product manager, Steve Furr
will provide an overview of web services and discuss how it can be
adapted to address the specific challenges posed by embedded systems, such as
fast, predictable response times and tight memory constraints.

QNX Affirms Leadership in POSIX Conformance
To support the US military's goal of standardizing on tested, reusable software
applications and code, QNX Software Systems has committed to achieving full
certification with the Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) standard,
1003.1-2001 (POSIX.1), as amended in 2003. QNX Software Systems was the first
RTOS vendor to certify conformance to POSIX.1, and is the undisputed leader in
adherence to the broadest range of POSIX API specifications.
Compared to the conformance claimed by other RTOS vendors based on earlier POSIX
editions, the 2003 edition of the specification triples the scope of programming
interfaces required for conformance. To become POSIX certified, the QNX Neutrino
RTOS will be tested with more than 1,300 POSIX interfaces. Full certification is
expected to be achieved within six to twelve months.
