QNX Software Systems announced October 27, 2004, it has accepted an offer of purchase from Harman International Industries, Incorporated (NYSE: HAR). As the newest subsidiary in Harman International’s family of premium brands, including Harman Kardon, JBL, and Becker, QNX will now be well-positioned to accelerate its growth toward becoming the preferred operating system for advanced embedded applications.

QNX Speeds Development of In-Vehicle Multimedia Systems with MOST TDK

QNX Software Systems unveiled November 9 the new QNX® MOST Technology Development Kit (TDK), which speeds the development of high-performance in-vehicle multimedia applications for the Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) bus. The new kit features out-of-the-box QNX Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS) support for MOST NetServices, which provides a standard interface for accessing the MOST network, and also includes source-code modules for IP networking, allowing developers to quickly support new or custom hardware.

QNX Neutrino RTOS and the Imagenation PXC200A Frame Grabber

The Imagenation PXC200A color frame grabber (designed, manufactured, and distributed by CyberOptics Semiconductor) has been certified for use with QNX Neutrino RTOS v6.3.

The PXC200A is an affordable solution for color or monochrome applications and has found numerous uses in traffic monitoring and control, industrial and pharmaceutical inspection, and medical devices. The PXC200A comes in two versions, one version has a single trigger and the more complex version has lots of I/O control. Both versions offer four multiplexed video inputs that can accept NTSC, CCIR/PAL, and SECAM sources. One or all four of the inputs, depending on version, can be reserved for S-video.
