QNX Wins Prestigious OCRI Technology Partnership Award

QNX Software Systems announced April 21 it was awarded the prestigious "Technology Partnership Award" by the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI). QNX, a company celebrating its silver anniversary this year, was honored for the innovative partnerships it has built with dozens of software and silicon providers in the global in-car computing market. QNX received the Technology Partnership Award at the 10th annual OCRI gala awards dinner, April 20.

QNX CFO Garners Prestigious Business Award

QNX Software Systems announced May 25 that CFO Jennifer Camelon has been named a 2005 "Forty Under 40" Award recipient by the Ottawa Business Journal. The ninth annual awards program honors individuals throughout the Ottawa business community that embody the region's entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, while at the same time balancing community and charitable involvement.

QNX Software Systems announced April 19 that Telematics Update has selected QNX's telematics partner ecosystem as a finalist for the Best Solution Award. The Telematics Update Best Solution Award recognizes the best end-to-end telematics solution, namely one that delivers the most cost-effective benefits, quality, and functionality.

SiRF, QNX Team Up to Cut Cost of Auto Navigation

Building on its momentum in the position-enabled silicon business, SiRF Technology Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRF), a leading provider of GPS-enabled location technology, introduced in April the SiRFstarIIA GPS System on Chip, a highly integrated and cost-effective solution for creating affordable automotive navigation and telematics systems.

Along with SiRF's suite of support tools for system development, including GPS and dead reckoning applications, SiRF is partnering with QNX Software Systems to provide a complete state-of-the-art system development kit (SDK) and board support package (BSP) based on the QNX® Neutrino® real-time operating system, and with Horizon Navigation to offer its NavMate® software for sample turn-by-turn and map-based navigation applications.

QNX Exhibits Future of In-Car Entertainment

At Telematics Detroit 2005, QNX Software Systems demonstrated innovative aftermarket and OEM in-car entertainment devices. QNX offered a demonstration of the JVC infotainment system, a DVD receiver and monitor for in-car use, and the latest Delphi hard drive radio, which plays MP3s and wirelessly synchronizes with home music libraries. Both the JVC infotainment device and the Delphi hard drive radio are powered by the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS).

QNX Adds Distribution Partners in South America

To meet the burgeoning demand for embedded software solutions in the Latin American countries, QNX Software Systems announced early May it has expanded its network of sales partners in South America. The new distribution partners, who will be selling the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system and QNX Momentics® suite of development tools, will also provide comprehensive training, technical support, and consulting services to QNX customers.

SPOTLIGHT: MEN Mikro Elektronik

MEN Mikro Elektronik develops and produces failsafe computers qualified for extreme environmental conditions in industrial embedded applications - such as control, measuring, test or simulation computers in transportation, automotive industry, mechanical engineering and aerospace technology, medical industry, military engineering and telecommunications.

MEN offers rugged Single-Board Computers based on Pentium and PowerPC processors in 3U/6U VMEbus, CompactPCI/PXI, PCI-104 and Computer-On-Module (ESM) formats as well as a wide range of real-world I/O and computer I/O functions based on the mezzanine card standards of M-Modules, PMC and PC-MIP.

QNX & Data Connection Forge Alliance to Deliver Pre-integrated Protocol Stacks

QNX Software Systems Co. and Data Connection Ltd. (DCL) announced in April a strategic alliance to deliver complete, pre-integrated software solutions for manufacturers of networking and telecommunications equipment.

As part of the agreement, the two companies have already ported Data Connection's entire suite of networking protocols to QNX's flagship product, the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS). The offering includes support for IP routing such as DC-OSPF, DC-ISIS, DC-RIP, and DC-BGP, as well as multicast, VoIP, MPLS, VPNs, GMPLS, and ATM.

QNX Broadens Support for Intel Network Processors

QNX Software Systems announced early May that it is expanding its support for Intel's fully programmable network processor architecture with the addition of the Intel® IXP23XX network processors. As a result, designers of networking systems can combine the realtime performance, superior reliability, and distributed processing of the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS with a comprehensive range of Intel network processors, from both the Intel IXP2XXX and Intel IXP4XX product lines.

Codetelligence Releases an Embedded SDIO Stack for QNX Neutrino 6.3

Codetelligence's Embedded SDIO Stack expands the capabilities of QNX Neutrino OS enabling seamless integration of Secure Digital and MMC memory cards along with SDIO peripherals such as Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, scanners and modems. Their Secure Digital I/O product line includes an Embedded SDIO Software Stack, SDIO Peripheral Driver (PDK) and SDIO Host Driver (HDK) Kits. The kits give embedded programmers standards based access to SD Memory and SDIO card peripherals.
