QNX Introduces Breakthrough Partitioning Solution for Secure Embedded Systems

QNX Software Systemsrecently announced a revolutionary new operating system extension that allows developers to build hardened, secure compartments around their software applications while providing the flexibility to maximize CPU resources. A first in the embedded industry, the new QNX® Neutrino® Adaptive Partitioning technology offers embedded designers the “best of both worlds” — resource guarantees for greater security and full CPU utilization for maximum performance.

One of the keys to QNX Neutrino adaptive partitioning is a patent-pending scheduler that guarantees CPU time for partitioned applications when the system is heavily loaded. Unlike the rigid, fixed-partitioning offerings of the past, QNX Neutrino Adaptive Partitioning can dynamically reassign resources from partitions not under full load to those that need additional processing time. This provides a higher overall level of performance by increasing CPU utilization.

QNX Freescale Multi-core Seminars

Join QNX Software Systems and Freescale Semiconductor for a technical seminar that looks at understanding and overcoming the challenges of designing optimized software for dual-core processors.

Applications today require more and more processing performance within existing system power budgets. Fortunately for developers, the dual-core MPC8641D processor available from Freescale provides many options for increasing and optimizing application performance without dramatically increasing power consumption.

Presenters at this seminar will address the problem by exploring proven strategies and techniques for distributing software tasks across dual cores. It also discusses the benefits and tradeoffs of several multiprocessing models (AMP, SMP, BMP) and discusses tools for troubleshooting and optimizing Freescale’s dual-core PowerPC processors.

QNX Freescale Multi-core Seminars
  • March 7 - Boston/Woburn, MA
  • March 8 - San Jose, CA
  • March 9 - Ottawa, ON

QNX Multi-core Seminars
  • March 14 - San Diego, CA

On the Shoulders of Eclipse: Advancing Embedded Development with Add-on Tools

By leveraging the underlying mechanisms of Eclipse, we expanded the applicability of Eclipse across the lifecycle. Eclipse has become our next-generation tools integration platform. However, Eclipse and the Eclipse C/C++ Development Tools (Eclipse CDT) code base alone are not sufficient for successful embedded development. That is why QNX offers a powerful set of Eclipse plug-ins in its QNX Momentics Development Suite - to address the needs of the embedded developer. During the seminar, the following topics will be covered:

  • Eclipse and CDT Introduction
  • QNX Momentics Development Suite
  • Target Connection and Management
  • Embedded System Debugging
  • Embedded System Profiling
  • Application Analysis: Memory, Code Coverage, Performance
  • Multi-core Systems Development
  • Embedding the Operating System and Applications

This seminar will give you a presentation of the industry’s richest Eclipse-based tool suite customized and tailored specifically for embedded development.
