Web Seminar Download: Optimizing Performance In Embedded Applications Using System Tracing Tools
If you missed the live QNX web seminar, "Optimizing Performance in Embedded
Applications Using System Tracing Tools," you can now download the archive
version. During this technical session QNX Software Systems examines how system
tracing tools can be used to gain critical insight into system behavior. OS
tools manager Thomas Fletcher provides an overview of tracing and instrumentation
and how these techniques can be used to identify bottlenecks and correct system
errors. Software developer Colin Burgess then presents a case study on using
system tracing tools to optimize performance in an in-vehicle system with tight
timing requirements and limited CPU resources. Mr. Burgess will look at areas
such as startup sequence, component streamlining, misinterpreted specifications,
and resource contention.

QNX Technology Powers New Broadcast Automation Solution from Leitch
Leitch Technology Corporation has chosen the QNX Neutrino RTOS for Leitch’s new
MPEG-2 stream manipulation product, the Digital Turnaround ProcessorTM (DTP).
Using the DTP, television broadcasters can generate extra revenue from their
national content by making it more relevant to local audiences. They can, for
example, localize a remotely encoded digital television signal by overlaying
it with local news and weather; they can also overlay station logos, as well
as stock information and other content.
DTP is the first product to overlay moving logos and other
dynamic graphics without having to decode and re-encode the original MPEG video
stream. This approach not only reduces transmission costs by allowing streams
to be distributed at lower bit rates, but also eliminates the image degeneration
associated with repeated encoding operations, allowing pristine, high-definition
video quality - one of the main benefits of HDTV.

NuDesign’s Visual SNMP Tools Now Support QNX Embedded Products
NuDesign Team Inc., a premiere provider of Visual SNMP/HTTP management software
development tools, and QNX Software Systems have formed an alliance to provide
NuDesign’s highly automated agent code generation technology for users of the
QNX Neutrino RTOS.
NuDesign’s SNMP agent development tools for the QNX Neutrino RTOS allow developers
to quickly create SNMP/HTTP agents for development and prototyping purposes. The
NuDesign code generation wizard generates C++ agent code as well as an immediately
compilable project for use with the QNX Momentics development suite. The wizard
also generates MIB-dependant Web pages that can be modified for a custom look
and feel. The MIB II subagent for QNX Neutrino is included with the product. A
standalone Agent or Master Agent and dynamically loadable extension Subagent
structures are supported.
